Arrival in Casablanca, Morocco’s largest and cheapest city. Transfer to the hotel to take a break from the trip. If time permits, an optional visit to the impressive Hassan II Mosque, one of the few mosques open to non-Muslims, with its majestic location facing the ocean.
In the evening, free time to stroll along the Corniche or sample the local cuisine in a typical restaurant.
Early departure to Rabat, the administrative capital of the country. Here you will visit the most emblematic places: the Kasbah of the Oudayas, with its blue streets and views of the sea; the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, where the Alawite kings rest; and the Hassan Tower, an unfinished minaret that symbolises the history of the country.
You then continue on to Meknes, another of the imperial cities, where you explore its ramparts, the Bab Mansour Gate (one of the most beautiful in Morocco) and the old royal warehouses (Heri es-Souani). Finally, you will arrive in Fez, the oldest and most culturally rich city in the country.
Day dedicated to discover Fez el-Bali, the best preserved medieval medina in the Arab world. With a local guide, you will wander through its labyrinthine streets, visiting key sites such as the University of Al-Qarawiyyin (considered the oldest in the world), the Andalusian Mosque and the vibrant spice and handicraft souks.
One of the highlights is a visit to the tanneries of Chouara, where you will see the traditional process of dyeing hides in coloured pits. In the afternoon, free time to explore further or relax in a traditional hammam.
Full day excursion north into the Rif Massif, a mountainous region of green landscapes and picturesque villages. The main destination is Chefchaouen, the famous ‘Blue City’, known for its blue facades and peaceful atmosphere.
Here you can stroll around the Uta el-Hammam Square, visit the Grand Mosque or climb up to the Spanish Mosque’s lookout point for panoramic views. In the afternoon, return to Fez.
Early departure for the Sahara Desert, with several stops along the way. First, you will visit Ifrane, known as ‘the Switzerland of Morocco’ for its alpine architecture and its cool climate. Then, in Azrou, a stop is made at the Cedar Forest, where it is possible to see Barbary monkeys in the wild.
The journey continues to Erfoud, gateway to the desert, famous for its fossils and rocky landscapes. Finally, you arrive in Merzouga, where the Erg Chebbi dunes begin. Here, the vehicles are replaced by camels to go deep into the desert and reach the Berber camp, where you will spend the night under a sky full of stars.
In the morning, you can enjoy the sunrise in the dunes, a magical experience with the first rays of sunlight illuminating the golden landscape. After breakfast, visit Berber nomadic families, where you will learn about their traditional way of life and have tea with them.
In the afternoon, option to take a 4×4 ride through the desert, exploring oases and small villages nearby. You can also simply relax at the hotel or take a camel ride at sunset. Overnight in Merzouga.
